This study investigates members of young feminist groups that have emerged in Jinju following the Feminist Reboot. It explores how these members have engaged in the processes of becoming and acting as feminists, the activities they have undertaken in the region, how they assess the significance of these activities, and how they are setting the course for their future lives. Additionally, it seeks to elucidate the implications and challenges these groups pose to women’s organizations and the broader women’s movement in Jinju. The findings indicate that the journey of young women in becoming and acting as feminists extends beyond online spaces. It encompasses diverse pathways, including experiences in middle and high schools, interactions with peers, exposure to feminist literature and films, and professional environments. These young feminists continually navigate the dynamic interplay between becoming and acting as feminists. The study documents a range of feminist activities rooted in the region, including reading groups, film screenings, campaigns, protests, and promotional efforts, often in collaboration with university settings. While some participants perceived these activities as primarily self-fulfilling, others noted their role in engaging local civil society, thereby raising awareness of young women’s presence and voices and challenging existing patriarchal perceptions and attitudes. Despite their commitment to ongoing engagement and residence within the region, young female feminists expressed a desire for methodologies distinct from those traditionally employed by established women’s organizations, highlighting a disconnect. This underscores the necessity for a reassessment of the activities and strategies of existing women’s groups. Furthermore, an in-depth analysis and the development of alternative approaches are imperative for ensuring the sustainability of local women’s movements.
