Hair Growth–Promoting Activity of Flavone-Rich Fractions Derived from Eremochloa ophiuroides extracts

초록

This study evaluated the hair growth–promoting effects of two bioactive fractions (A and B) derived from Eremochloa ophiuroides (E. ophiuroidese) extracts in a C57BL/6 mouse model. Following synchronized depilation, mice were topically treated once daily for 21 days with distilled water (control), 3% minoxidil, or E. ophiuroides -derived fractions A (EtOAc fraction) and B (BuOH fraction). Macroscopic observation revealed markedly enhanced hair regrowth in the E. ophiuroides extract-treated groups compared with the control group, showing effects comparable to those of minoxidil. Molecular analyses of dorsal skin tissues revealed increased alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity, reduced transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) expression, and elevated vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression in treated groups, indicating promotion of anagen induction and improvement of the follicular microenvironment. Histological examination showed increased dermal thickness and enhanced follicular development. Scanning electron microscopy further confirmed increased hair density and shaft diameter following E. ophiuroides extract treatment. These findings suggest that E. ophiuroides-derived fractions promote hair regeneration through coordinated modulation of follicular activation markers and growth-regulatory factors, supporting their potential as novel natural hair growth–promoting agents.
