도시 스프롤 유형별 분포 및 특성 분석– 경남 진주시를 중심으로 -

초록

Urban sprawl has intensified in small and medium-sized cities in Korea, underscoring the need for effective analysis to support urban growth management. This study analyzes the spatial characteristics of sprawl in Jinju, Gyeongnam, using land cover data from the year 2007 and 2024. Sprawl areas were categorized into five types—CBD expansion, sub-center, clustered, linear, and scattered—and their spatial distribution was examined alongside attributes such as population, businesses, buildings, and land value. Results show that built-up areas are concentrated in the city center and gradually diminish toward the periphery, forming a continuous low-density pattern. Sub-centers have developed to levels comparable to the CBD, and although clustered areas have decreased in size, their characteristics have significantly intensified. Based on these findings, compact growth should be focused around CBD and sub-center areas, while dispersed populations and facilities in outer zones should be guided toward clustered areas to strengthen spatial connectivity.
