The Relationship of Self-esteem, Human Rights Awareness, and Multicultural Education Competency: The Moderated Mediation Effect of Multicultural Educational Training Program Experience

초록

This study aimed to verify whether human rights awareness mediates the relationship between self-esteem and multicultural educational competency in adolescents, and whether multicultural educational training program experience moderates this mediation effect. A total of 318 secondary school teacher participated in this study. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 29.0 program and the SPSS PROCESS macro 4.2. The results of the study are as follows. First, there were significant correlations among self-esteem, human rights awareness, multicultural educational competency, and multicultural educational training program experience. Second, human rights awareness was found to mediate the relationship between self-esteem and multicultural educational competency. Third, multicultural educational training program experience moderated the relationship between human rights awareness and multicultural educational competency. Lastly, human rights awareness mediated the relationship between self-esteem and multicultural educational competency, with this mediation effect being moderated by multicultural educational training program experience. The implications and limitations of this study are discussed.
