1960∼80년대 4월혁명 담론의 재구성: 대학신문을 중심으로

초록

This study examines how university students appropriated and reinterpreted the discourse on the April Revolution using the “The Daehak Sinmun”(University Newspaper) as a resource. Generally, the April Revolution is perceived as a struggle to restore freedom and democracy against the autocratic regime. It is also regarded as having set the agenda for social movements centered on democracy and nationalism in Korea. However, the significance, character of the subjects, and representation of the April Revolution in “The Daehak Sinmun” were not consistent over time. Initially, in the early 1960s, the April Revolution was understood within the framework of Western modernization theory, but by the 1980s, it was reinterpreted through the lens of Third World dependency theory. The assessment of students as representatives of the populace during the April Revolution gradually shifted to criticism of their disregard for the people. The discourse on the April Revolution among university students evolved over time, reflecting the contemporary awareness and intellectual and ideological trends within the university community. The discourse on the April Revolution was continuously restructured in conjunction with the aspirations of student movements of the era.
