Objective: This study aimed to develop a healing art program for the psychological rehabilitation of stroke patients and to evaluate its effectiveness. Design: The study employed a non-equivalent control group pre-post designMethods: The participants included 40 stroke patients hospitalized at P Hospital in J City, G Province, were targeted. Of these, 20 were assigned to the experimental group and 20 to the control group. The healing arts program comprised horticultural therapy, art therapy, music therapy, and literary therapy, and was conducted twice a week for 4 weeks, for a totalling of 8 sessions. Data were analysed by frequency, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA with SPSS 24 Win program. Result: After 4 weeks of participation in the healing art program, the experimental group demonstrated significant improvements. Depression scores decreased from 18.75±7.41 points to 10.25±6.70 points, and self-esteem scores increased from 26.30±6.95 points to 35.60±9.60 points, rehabilitation motication scores rose from 85.90±33.76 points to 123.25±45.42 points. Furthermore, the experimental group showed a significantly greater reduction in depression scores and a more substantial increase in self-esteem and rehabilitation motivation scores compared to the control group. Conclusion: These results confirm the effectiveness of the healing arts program in reducing depression and enhancing self-esteem and rehabilitation motivation among stroke patients. It is recommended that this program be utilized as a psychological rehabilitation intervention for stroke patients.
