대학 학생선수 학업도우미 제도의 운영 실태: NCAA Division I 사례 분석 및 한국적 시사점 탐색

The purpose of this study is to analyze the academic advisor system at NCAA Division I institutions and to explore strategies for improving the imbalance between academics and athletics among Korean college student-athletes. An in-depth interview was conducted with a former NCAA Division I women's soccer player who had dual experience as both a student-athlete and an academic advisor supporting various student-athletes. In addition, a systematic literature review of official NCAA Division I documents related to academic advising was utilized. The findings of this study revealed that the academic advisor system at NCAA Division I institutions can be understood and classified into five categories: 1)schedule coordination with faculty members, 2)cooperation and communication with coaching staff, 3)individual career and learning strategy support, 4)study hall operation and management, and 5)job characteristics and professionalism of academic advisors. Based on these findings, this study suggests directions for improving the academic support system for Korean college student-athletes as well as provides implications for developing a Korean model of the academic advisor system for college student-athletes.
