초록
This study examined whether self-efficacy mediates the relationship between interpersonal competence and mental health among university students. A census survey was conducted with students enrolled at a university located in the M region, and a total of 425 questionnaires were included in the final analysis. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN version 29.0 through hierarchical regression analyses to examine the mediating effect, with significance confirmed using the Sobel test. The main findings were as follows. First, among the subfactors of interpersonal competence, relationship initiation and formation, as well as conflict management, had significant positive effects on self-efficacy. Second, among the subfactors of interpersonal competence, only conflict management showed a significant negative effect on mental health. Third, conflict management exerted a significant indirect effect on mental health through self-efficacy, indicating a partial mediating effect. Based on these findings, this study discusses directions for interventions that incorporate protective factors to promote mental health among university students.
