Abstract
This study aims to develop a highly sensitive buckypaper-based electrochemical biosensor utilizing CuO-decorated acid-treated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CuO/a-MWCNTs) for glucose detection. Acid treatment introduced carboxyl groups on the MWCNT surface, facilitating uniform CuO nanoparticle deposition and enhancing electron transfer kinetics. The optimized biosensor, incorporating CuO/a-MWCNTs with a CuO loading of 0.05 mol%, exhibited a high sensitivity of 471.0 mu A<middle dot>mM-1<middle dot>cm-2, approximately 3.6 times greater than that of MWCNT-only electrodes. It also demonstrated a wide linear detection range (0-10 mM) and a remarkably low limit of detection (LoD) of 0.39 mM. These findings suggest that CuO/a-MWCNT-based biosensors hold great potential for highly sensitive and efficient glucose monitoring.
