- Abstract
- A 13-year-old spayed female Pomeranian presented with a mass in the left eye. Slit-lamp examination, ultrasound, and CT revealed an iris-derived mass extending to the sclera, suspicious for scleral invasion. A partial iris biopsy was performed.
Histopathology confirmed an anterior uveal melanocytoma with no malignant features. Despite imaging findings suggesting invasion, the patient was managed conservatively with topical anti-inflammatories post-biopsy. Over a 7-month follow-up period, the lesion remained stable, and vision was preserved without complications. This case highlights the importance of histopathology for accurate diagnosis and management of canine uveal melanocytic neoplasms, as conservative management can be a viable option.
