Abstract
This study developed and evaluated a web application to enhance reflective competency in pre-service school nurses during educational service-learning. Using the ADDIE model, the application was systematically created for nursing students in teacher certification programs. The analysis phase reviewed 25 empirical service-learning studies and examined theoretical frameworks including Dewey’s experiential education, Kolb’s experiential learning cycle, Mezirow’s transformative learning, and Schön’s reflective practice. During design, Kolb’s four-stage cycle was restructured for service-learning contexts, and a three-tier cloud-native architecture was established using React.js, Node.js, and MongoDB. Development employed agile methodology to implement core functions: reflection journal writing, mentor-mentee feedback, and automated portfolio generation. Evaluation assessed validity and usability through expert and user reviews. Ten experts evaluated content validity, achieving an S-CVI/Ave of 0.91. Heuristic evaluation scored 4.91/5.0, demonstrating excellent usability. Twenty pre-service school nurses participated in user evaluation, yielding a System Usability Scale score of 89.5. Technology Acceptance Model evaluation showed high acceptance: perceived usefulness (4.60/5.0), perceived ease of use (4.36/5.0), and intention to use (4.46/5.0). The actual usage rate reached 82%, with participants engaging three or more times weekly. This web application represents an educational innovation balancing theoretical rigor with practical applicability. It significantly contributes to enhancing reflective practice competency in pre-service school nurses and provides a reference model for developing educational tools in healthcare education contexts.
