| dc.description.abstract | In the recent decades, thermoelectric and piezoelectric devices have progressively turned into a focused topic as renewable energy harvesting devices among scientists and academicians due to being eco-friendly, having no CO2 emission, and being maintenance-free. This chapter focuses on the basics of working function and recent developments of nonoxide materials for thermo and piezoelectric applications. Special attention has been paid to metal chalcogenides (such as sulfides, selenides, and tellurides), metal phosphides, metal carbides, and nitrides. In addition, oxide-free materials produced by low-cost and large-scale methods offer a unique opportunity to combine material properties and use interface effects. Finally, the future perspectives and challenges for the improvement of oxide-free thermo and piezoelectric materials are discussed. ? 2022 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. | - |
