dc.description.abstractIn this study, the mechanical properties of SCM440 and SNCM439, which are alloy steels for machine structures, were compared in terms of impact strength (Charpy, J) and yield strength () based on hardness (HRC). The test results showed that the impact strength of SCM 440 decreased linearly with increasing hardness, whereas the yield strength tended to increase linearly. SNCM 439 showed a similar trend but exhibited a relatively good balance of impact strength and yield strength compared to SCM 440, thus making it suitable for applications requiring high impact resistance. In contrast, SCM440, which exhibits high hardness and yield strength, is more appropriate for components where wear resistance is a critical factor. Furthermore, the mechanical properties of both materials can be optimized for specific applications by adjusting hardness through heat treatment conditions.-
