| dc.description.abstract | 본 연구는 한국 근대체육과 스포츠 도입의 전체상을 파악하기 위한 일환으로 마산 지역의 기독교계 학교인 창신학교의 체육활동을 분석했다. 1909년 설립된 창신학교는 호주 선교부의 복음 전파와 지역민들의 교육사업의필요가 공존하며 태동했다. 기독교 정신의 구현과 민족교육의 실천을 위한 공간으로 시작된 창신학교는 경남지역의 근대적 체육활동을 위한 선구적인 교육기관으로 기능하며, 서구 근대 스포츠문화의 보급과 병식체조와목아령체조를 개발했다. 창신학교의 체육활동은 운동회와 연계되며, 마산 지역민들의 문화적 축제로 확대되어마산 지역민들의 응집과 화합을 위한 촉진제가 되었다. 이러한 창신학교의 체육활동은 국권상실의 위기 속에서민족의 자주독립을 열망했던 근대적 지식인과 군인, 지역민들의 숨은 민족의식의 발로로 기능했다. | - |
