Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to understand and explore the experiences and meanings of work transformation by primary healthcare nurse practitioners. Methods: This study adopted an individual interview approach. A total of 10 primary healthcare nurse practitioners were interviewed using semi-structured questions between September and October; 2023. The collected data were analyzed using conventional content analysis. Results: The analysis revealed four main categories and sixteen sub-categories. These categories include: "Changes in the community environment," "Changes in the primary healthcare clinic environment," "Local residents seeking diverse and meticulous healthcare," and "The transitional period of evolving roles at primary healthcare clinics." Conclusion: As a result of this study, it was confirmed that the role of primary healthcare nurse practitioners has changed according to environmental changes in local communities and health clinics and also they are receiving demands for change. Therefore, various health care policies and education should be prepared to re-establish the role of primary healthcare nurse practitioners.
