- Abstract
- This study presents a buckypaper-based electrochemical biosensor utilizing gold nanoparticle-decorated acid-treated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (Au@a-MWCNTs) and copper oxide (CuO) for enhanced glucose detection. Acid treatment introduced carboxyl groups on the MWCNT surface, facilitating CuO nanoparticle deposition, while the presence of Au nanoparticles further improved the electrode's catalytic activity a nd c onductivity. T he b iosensor i ncorporating 0 .05 CuO/Au@a-MWCN Ts exhibited a high sensitivity of 730.4 μA⋅mM⁻1⋅cm⁻2, which is significantly higher than that of conventional MWCNT-based electrodes. Moreover, it demonstrated a wide linear detection range and a low limit of detection (LoD) of 0.18 mM. The sensor also exhibited excellent selectivity, minimizing interference from lactose and sucrose while achieving a maximum current response of 7.3 mA toward glucose. These findings highlight the potential of Au@a-MWCNTs and CuO-based nanocomposites as highly efficient electrode materials for electrochemical glucose biosensors.
