- Abstract
- The surface roughening of 0.1 and 1 mm thick ferritic stainless steel sheets samples was investigated for different deformation modes. The samples were deformed in uniaxial tension, near plane strain and balanced biaxial stretching modes. The modified Marciniak test was carried out for the near plane strain and balanced biaxial tension modes. After deformation, the root-mean-square (RMS) average and maximum surface roughness values were measured. These results were used as input to the Parmar-Mellor-Chakrabarty (PMC) model to predict the forming limit diagrams (FLDs) of the two sheet samples. The influences of several parameters, such as the yield criterion and the surface roughness parameters, on FLD predictions were examined. The PMC model was found to be in good agreement with the experimental observations. © 2012 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.
