| dc.description.abstract | Most of aquacultural farms have been using the moist pellet (MP) feeds for growing fish. However, when the MP feeds were fed in salt water of fish farms, their weak binding capacity and rapid collapse in salt water results in feed loss and thereby aggravate water quality which might lead pathogenic diseases in fish. In order to resolve these problems we have developed chitosan-based biopolymer coating material, which warps outside of the MP feeds by spraying, for environmental-friendly improvement of fish MP feeds in aquacultural farms. In this study, we selected the best coating material while changing mixing rates of both chitsoan and agar biopolymer, and then the mixed biopolyemr coating material with the ratio of 9 (2% chitosan) to 1 (1% agar) showed around 70% inhibitory effect in chemical oxygen demand (COD) pollution of salt water. This results implicated that coating MP feeds with chitosan-based biopolymer material remarkably decreased the level of COD and would be improved the quality of water in aquaculture farms. | - |
