This study examined the physicochemical properties and contamination levels of hygiene- indicator bacteria in irrigation water to evaluate the microbiological safety of fresh produce in the Chungcheongnam-do region, both before and after harvest. The results indicate that groundwater maintained relatively stable water quality, whereas surface water showed an increase in hygiene-indicator bacterial concentrations after harvest. Physicochemical factors including pH, total dissolved solids, and electrical conductivity were found to influence bacterial concentrations, underscoring the significant role of these characteristics in microbial contamination. Therefore, this study highlights the need for continuous monitoring and the establishment of management standards to ensure the microbiological safety of irrigation water, with particular emphasis on enhancing surface water management practices.-
