회복적 정의실현을 위한 서클의 도덕교육적 의의

Abstract

본 논문에서는 회복적 정의에 바탕한 서클프로세서가 초등 도덕과 수업에 미치는 의의를 고찰하고자 한다. 기존 응보적 생활지도가 강제, 처벌, 비난, 배제, 수치심 심어주기 등으로 문제행동을 고치겠다는 패러다임을 바꾸려는 시도로서 회복적 생활교육이 도입되었다. 회복적 생활교육은 갈등을 억누르고 회피하는 방식을 오히려 배움과 성장의 기회로 보고 내면치유, 관계회복, 공동체복원, 그리고 갈등 당사자의 공동체 재통합을 위한 패러다임이다. 회복적 정의와 회복적 생활교육에 바탕한 서클프로세서는 또래 간의 소통, 공감과 경청, 관계회복, 치유와 화해 능력을 또래들에게 부여할 수 있다. 서클프로세서를 통하여 갈등과 폭력의 당사자들의 갈등 해결만이 아니라 상호간에 신뢰를 회복하고 공동의 지혜에 도달할 뿐 아니라 학교공동체(학급, 동아리 혹은 학교)가 평화적이고 안전한 공간으로 회복될 수 있는 한 방법이 될 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 초등도덕교과에서 적용할 수 있는 방법으로써 서클프로세서를 제시할 수 있을 것이다.

In this paper, we will examine the significance of circle processes based on restorative justice on moral education. Restorative life education was introduced as an attempt to change the paradigm of existing retributive school life guidance to correct problematic behaviors by coercion, punishment, blame, exclusion, and instillation of shame. Restorative life education is a paradigm for inner healing, relationship recovery, community restoration, and community reintegration of all parties to the conflict, seeing how to suppress and avoid conflict as an opportunity for learning and growth. Circle processes based on restorative justice and restorative life education can impart peer communication, empathy and listening, relationship recovery, healing, and reconciliation capabilities to peers. Through Circle Processes, not only the conflict of the parties involved in conflict and violence can be resolved, but also mutual trust and common wisdom can be reached, and the school community (class, club or school) can be restored to a peaceful and safe space. In this paper, circle processes could be presented as a method applicable to moral education in elementary schools.
