dc.description.abstractSustainable energy research and advancement in energy storage and conversion are directly associated with the development and economic growth of a nation. Global energy utilization has heavily relied on fossil fuels and led to catastrophic contamination of the environment and climate change. To substitute for fossil fuel–based energy production, developing low-cost materials is required for renewable eco-friendly energy sources, such as batteries, supercapacitors, dye-sensitized solar cells, hydrogen production via water splitting, and fuel cells. In this section, the emphasis is placed on the choice of nanostructured materials in energy storage and conversion technologies. Basic working principles, components, and analysis methods of these promising technologies are discussed. © 2020 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.-
