- Abstract
- Purpose: This study aims to conduct mechanical tests using specimens to demonstrate that composite materials that are used in commercial aviation aircrafts can be used as the PAV frame.
Methods: To verify the feasibility of using composite materials to produce the PAV frame, four types of CFRPs were used to manufacture specimens. The test was performed by the American Society for Testing and Materials, and the overall test results were analyzed.
Results: The mechanical test results obtained using the curing method were good in the order of autoclave, VBO, and press through the matrix test. In the case of materials, there was no significant difference, but Solvay's unidirectional tape achieved the most stable results.
Conclusion: In conclusion, it was confirmed that carbon composite materials can be used not only for civil aircrafts but also for PAV frames. Unlike automobiles, it was confirmed that economic feasibility should be considered for small production volumes.
