Abstract
In the recent times electrochemical energy storages systems has gained humongous attention due to the high value for the cost, accessibility, and high energy conversion efficiency from renewable sources. Commercial electrochemical devices like batteries and supercapacitors have gained prominence in medical devices and consumer electronics. To further widen the scope of electrochemical energy storage towards automotive and large-scale applications, focussing on reducing environmental impact is vital. This study explores the potential energy storage solutions using high abundant and less hazardous materials as potential electrodes. Particularly, the nanosheet structured graphitic carbon nitride potentially increases the electrochemical performance in batteries and supercapacitors. This review explore the incorporation of g-C3N4 NS based materials as electrodes and further evaluation the potential opportunities and obstacles. Also providing insights for enhancing the versatility and applicability of g-C3N4 in commercial use, particularly in Li-ion, Na-ion, metal-air batteries, Li-Sulphur batteries, and supercapacitors. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.
