dc.description.abstractA retarder is a device that is mounted on a transmission or differential to reduce the speed of a vehicle byproviding resistance to the rotating body. In this study, a newly developed hydraulic retarder is installed in alarge commercial vehicle for dynamometer testing. It is confirmed that the pump pressure can be linearlycontrolled by adjusting the solenoid valve voltage. The retarder meets the target braking torque and thedeceleration performance required by the vehicle. Furthermore, it is verified that there are no issues such asnoise, overheating, or damage during the worst-case test involving the maximum rotational speed of the driveshaft and the maximum voltage applied to the solenoid valve.-
