- Abstract
- This study was conducted to determine the applicability of welding by the incidence angle of a laser beam to prevent laser head interference when a vertical stiffener is at a side post of a side structure of a railway vehicle. Eleven sample welding experiments were performed with incident angles of 5°, 10°, 15°, and 20°, and results showed that application at an angle of up to 20° was possible. In addition, multiple regression analyses were performed with various dummy variables according to incidence angle, with 14 types of experiment variables of vertical incidence laser welding used as reference group variables. A suitable regression equation for selecting optimized welding conditions according to the beam incident angle was formulated, and the accuracy of the predicted value was approximately 98 %. © 2023, The Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers and Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.
