- Abstract
- Concerns are growing in Nigeria as the problem of national integration becomes more serious. Previous studies have argued that the low level of party institutionalization is the cause of these endemic problems. In contrast, this thesis shows that the problem of Nigerian integration cannot be explained only by the institutionalization of political parties. Based on journal articles, newspaper reviews, books and other secondary data, it shows why political parties alone cannot explain the failure of Nigeria's national integration and suggests alternative factors or variables. In particular, it raises other factors such as corruption and bureaucratic inefficiency.
