| dc.description.abstract | The separation performance of pervaporation membranes using a chitosan that have received great interests for environment-friendly materials as natural biopolymer. Those chitosan membranes have shown diferent pervaporation performancesaccording to the prepared condition of membranes and the various surrounding factors. Several experiments such as FT-IR, IonExchange Capacity, X-ray diffractometer, DMTA, DSC analysis, swelling Etc. were used to observe the characteristics ofmembranes. When pervaporation experiments were operating, the membrane performances were affected by the feedcomposition, the thickness of membranes and the permeate pressure. Except for that, it was confirmed that membraneperformances can be affected by the degree of cross-linking and membrane preparation conditions that the form of crystals werechanged by different heating temperatures during membrane formation period. Pervaporation using crosslinked chitosanethanol/water, isopropanol/water, ethylene glycol/water. The membrane preparation process for optimum pervaporationperformances was demanded to separate water from various aqueous organic mixtures efficiently. | - |
