Abstract
Unsteady oscillatory gas flows can be found in micro- and nano-structures with moving components such as actuators and slider bearing. The understanding of fundamental mechanisms associated with them becomes a critical issue in the design with enhanced performance. In this study, the Langmuir slip model based on the concept of adsorption of gases tin solids is applied to investigate the rarefaction and curvature effects on oscillatory gas flows in the slip regime. In order to assess potentials of the new model, the results are compared with the theoretical prediction by the conventional Maxwell model.
