- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to suggest the methodology for finding the efficient positions of closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) for crime-prevention in urban residential district through using Space Syntax. The previous studies of CCTV positioning have some problems of where CCTV should be positioned on a street line exactly because of using axial analysis. From the perspective of CPTED, the characters of crime and street pattern of urban residential district was studied and pedestrian(potential offenders & victims) behavior and representation of spatial connectivity was reconsidered. So, the proposal concept of CCTV positioning method is as follows. 1)Spatial analysis of closed system territorialized by main roads 2)Network analysis of nodes as street intersections & access points(eg. crosswalk, busstop, ect.) 3)Local integration(r≅mean of mean-depth) analysis in consideration of spatial centrality affecting pedestrian volumes and behavior. Through the analysis process, we could obtain the rank of local integration(MMD) values and give priority to the CCTV positions and types in accordance with that order and budget.
