유럽정체성과 동아시아공동체 담론 - 동아시아공동체의 정체성에 대한 비판적 질문 -

Abstract

This article has two main subjects. The first theme is the question about the meaning of the identity of Europe for the European community. The second topic is a critical analysis of discourse of the East Asian community. With respect to the second theme, the European community, a successful model of regional community, is used as a mirror in which the East Asian community is reflected for comparison. The identity of Europe which represents the self-consciousness of Europeans about Europe has been the rich soil for the Europe's first supranational community when it is realized in the second half of the 20th century. European identity is also the nourishing for the continuation of the European Union and plays a key role in establishing the direction of the future Europe. Unlike european case, East Asia has not the identity of East Asia which has growed up in the history. Thus, in order to establish an East Asian community, the construction of the East Asian identity should be preceded. The resolution of conflicts in the history is the important premise of the construction of community's identity. Therefore, without the resolution of conflicts such as the problems of territory and historiography etc., the realization of the East Asian community seems to be unthinkable.
