| dc.description.abstract | Frost shattering has traditionally been considered as one of the most effective process in rock weathering. Each slab specimens of five sandstone, mudstone, shale was prepared and put in freeze-thaw cycles and repeated 280 times in the temperature of –20˚C to +20˚C. As the result, some changes were observed in weathering patterns and weathering products. Rock shattering was more active in semi-waterlogging conditions rather than atmospheric conditions, but there are many differences depend on the rock. Sandstone released the grain at the surface in the form of disintegration or was seperated in the form of expoliation along the absorption layer than the development of joint/crack. Mudstone and Shale were crushed rock fragment after development of the vertical joints, then water was penetrated to stratification. Mudstone especially was weathered and breaked into the polygon structure around the contraction point after collapse of the rock structure. | - |
