- Abstract
- Silicon-based electrodes are being designed for use in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) with an aim at large energy density and long and stable cycle life. In this study, silicon deposited on copper (current collector) by sputtering method is applied for LIBs. And pattern on a copper surface and heat-treatment of an active material are applied for long and stable cycle life. The four types of electrodes, which are with or without pattern on copper surface and heat treatment of silicon, are prepared to evaluate the electrochemical property using galvanostatic cycling experiments using a coin type cell of CR2032 (empty set20, T3.2 mm). An electrode of heat-treated Si deposited on patterned Cu presents a superior cycle performance as maintained delithiation capacity of 38.4% up to 200 cycles.
